Instructions for Nokia N900

We have tested the connection on Nokia N900, which was kindly lent to us by the company Telekom d.d

ATTENTION! The following Instructions describe a procedure using the protocol MSCHAPv2 . Connection will not be established if your organization does not use the appropriate infrastructure (FreeRADIUS 2.x)

The data used in the example below is fictional, so replace it with your own during the installation process.

After a successful connection of the phone and your personal computer (using USB cable), download the certificate of your home organisation to the phone device. Then find the file containing this certificate (in Filemanager) .


Open the file by cliking on it..

Check the content and then add the certificate by clicking the Install button.


For the purpose select WLAN and confirm your choice by clicking the Select button.


The certificate was successfully added. Close the file manager and continue to the main menu.


Click the Settings button.


In the menu choose Internet connections.


Click on the Connection button.


New connection wizard appears. Click on the Next button.


Write “eduroam” in the connection name field and continue by clicking the Next button.


The wizard will ask you if you want to scan for the available WLAN networks. Click theYes button.


Select the eduroam wireless network and then click on the Next button.


For EAP type select TTLS and click on the Next button.


For EAP method select MSCHAPv2 and continue by clicking the Next button.


In the field User name type your username (in a format username@home-organization.si). In the Password field write your password. Continue by clicking the  Next button.


Click on the Advanced button.

Select EAP tab and enable Use manual user name. Type your username in the field Manual user name. Save settings by clicking the Save button .

Return to previous window and click the Finish button to complete the setup.


You have successfully created the connection. Return to the main menu (by clicking DONE), then click on the clock icon in the upper left corner.


Click on the Internet Connection button.


From a list of avaiable wireless networks select eduroam. The phone will automatically start to connect. The installed certificate will be automatically selected. The connection should be established automatically.
